Petar Lazic

Petar LazicCollaborating with Hank in songwriting led Petar into first forming the group as a duo back in 1991 before going on to add additional members. Petar's ethnic background is of Serbian stock and he was often teased as the most "stolid" member of the band (whatever "stolid" means). All we knew was that while his body didn't move much on stage, his fingers literally flew across the fretboard!

While he may not have been as extroverted as some of the other members of the band, his bass playing formed a major part of the dyssia sound as he used complex patterns and chord progressions. Many compared his playing style to that of a rhythm guitarist and the thing that impressed a lot of musicians about Petar was the way his bass melodies would intertwine with Hank's guitar.

Petar was also one of the primary songwriters of the band as he and Hank would collaborate on devising complex, intertwined melodies. He also wrote the lyrics for "Offering" as well as composing the instrumental piece "Jade" that would later go on to be used by Patrick as part of the soundtrack for the Rogers Community 22 program, cyberpunk.live.

In the years after dyssia broke up, Petar stopped playing in bands but has taken up (or is attempting to in his words) playing baroque and renaissance music on the banjo. That's right, the banjo. He also moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked for Wayne State University. He has since moved across the river to the Canadian side where he currently lives in Windsor with his wife, Christina.
