Background
dyssia was an Ottawa-based band that practiced regularly and performed sporadically from the summer of 1991 until the spring of 1996. After five years of chaotic existence, the band came to an end when several of the members moved away from Ottawa for various jobs. The more optimistic of us (some say overly naive) feel we'll revive the band whenever we're all in the same city again but in the meantime, this web site serves, if nothing else, to keep the spirit alive.
We played our own original compositions and so we were automatically labeled as "alternative" although our musical influences leaned towards 1980's-era European "alternative" rather than the current wave of music which goes by the same title. People used to say that we sounded like a cross between Joy Division and Shadowy Men From A Shadowy Planet. We were never really certain whether this was a compliment or not.
