J. Raymond LavoieJ. Raymond Lavoie

J. Raymond Lavoie, as formally referred to by the guys, was the "other" guitarist and vocalist. He wrote some of The Gutterboys' material on his own. He also composed songs in collaboration with Patrick Calnan and Rick Bugatsch, and then eventually with J.P. Côté and Todd Snelgrove demonstrating his skills as a songwriter and lyricist.

Ray was known to frequently wear strange costumes for performances (even when it wasn't Halloween), often performing onstage as a superhero or starship captain.

Following the retirement of The Gutterboys, Ray went on to play with the Beatles cover band Yesterday and then joined Formerly Unknown where he performed newly written originals (bringing back a few Gutterboy tunes as well). He also played in CDs Guise and used his highly developed sound engineering skills as the technical genius behind Lonesome Studios Productions.
