Just Wait and Not Yet (But Soon)
The record that included "Just Wait" and "Not Yet, But Soon" was The Gutterboys' first and only studio-quality recording. It was an independent release, pressed onto a double "A" sided 7-inch 45-RPM vinyl record in August 1990.
The Gutterboys performed relentlessly to earn enough money to pay for studio and manufacturing costs. They entered professional 24-track studio Ambience Recorders (now defunct) for three eight-hour blocks of Midnight Specials on May 12th/13th and June 1st, 1990. The session was engineered by studio employee Marc Porter and produced by The Gutterboys, with each principal songwriter (Ray on "Just Wait", J.P. on "Not Yet, But Soon") having the final say.
Although the mix was less than absolute perfection and some arrangement choices were later regretted, those two songs define The Gutterboys more than any others.
