One Last Chance To Get Pickled Ottawa, August 11, 2003 - Sad news for fans of Ottawa's own Picklecatz as the band has announced that it will be breaking up shortly due to the departure of lead singer and guitarist, Troy Jones. Jones is moving back to the Maritimes in preparation for his upcoming wedding and to be closer to his family. Fans and friends, however, will have one last chance to say goodbye to the band as the Picklecatz will be opening the Ultimate Summer Bash at Club Babylon (317 Bank Street) on Friday, August 22nd. The show will also feature Jacob Two-Two and Tammy Raybould. "It's going to be a bittersweet experience for us," reports Patrick Calnan, drummer and booking agent for the band. "We want to go out with a bang but knowing that it will be our last opportunity to perform together as a unit has added serious emphasis to this particular show." The performance also has another personal connection for the Picklecatz as it is geared towards players of Ultimate, the fast- paced, Frisbee-tossing sport. Four of the five members of the band have played Ultimate for years with the show combining two of their favorite pastimes. Doors open at 8:00pm on Friday, August 22nd at Club Babylon located at 317 Bank Street. Normal admission is $7.00 although Ultimate players only pay $5.00. Door prizes have also been provided by The Ultimate DiscGolf Store. Ottawa's own Picklecatz have been one of the most interesting and compelling bands to hit the local music scene in years. Through a variety of eclectic musical stylings, the all-original Picklecatz weave a rich tapestry of melodies into hypnotic grooves bound to stay with you long after the Picklecatz experience is over. They work hard, play hard, and have a lot of fun along the way.
