Local Musicians Make Animal Noises For Benefit Concert Ottawa, March 15, 2003 - The Ottawa Humane Society receives donations from a wide variety of sources but volunteers don't normally strap on guitars or sit behind drum kits to raise funds. But they certainly will be on March 22nd at Café Dekcuf with "Animal Noises", a benefit concert featuring Tammy Raybould, Charley Beck, Picklecatz, DarkStar and Sweetland. All of the performers are generously donating their time and talents to help raise money in support of animal welfare in the National Capital Region. This latest effort follows in the tradition of past benefit concerts by Ottawa musicians supporting the Humane Society as similar shows have taken place last year at Rasputin's, in 2000 at Barrymore's, and also the "Mosh For Mutts" series of concerts that ran at Carleton University from 1994 to 1996. "We're hoping for a big turnout this time around," states Patrick Calnan, organizer of the event. "And with the reputation of the acts we've recruited for this bill, we're expecting to attract a good crowd." Café Dekcuf is located at 221 Rideau Street. Doors open for the March 22nd benefit concert at 8:00pm with a $10.00 cover charge. All proceeds go directly to the Ottawa Humane Society. The Ottawa Humane Society is a non-profit, community-based organization and registered charity with a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from supporters and the community at large. For more than 112 years, the OHS has been the leading organization providing a safe haven for sick, injured and homeless animals in Ottawa. Tammy Raybould, Charley Beck, Picklecatz, DarkStar, and Sweetland are among some of the best independent musical acts currently active in the Ottawa music scene.
